Map of East Dallas Homes Changing from Alley to Curb Trash Pick-Up
Monday, February 8th, 2010

As of March 1, the City of Dallas is changing to once-a-week trash and recycling pick-up.  That will require switching from bags to using the large gray trash bins.  Because many of our East Dallas alleys are too narrow to accommodate the bins as well as a garbage truck, we (including my own household) are switching from alley pick-up to curb pick-up.

Here is a map of the affected homes.  If you have questions, please email the head of sanitation, Mary Nix, and copy me:  mary.nix@dallascityhall.com and angela.hunt@dallascityhall.com.

Garbage Pick-Up Delayed
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I hope you are enjoying the New Year! I wanted to pass along some info I just received from the City regarding delays in garbage pick-up, and ask that you please pass it on to your neighbors:

There will be a delay in garbage and recycling collection service – both today and tomorrow. The delay is due to the combination of both the adverse weather (icy rain mixture) and the holiday garbage load. Because of no service on the New Years Day holiday, the volume of garbage is much heavier today.

The City is asking that residents keep their garbage carts and bags out for collection even if we are a day late in retrieving it. Monday’s collection service may require much of Tuesday’s collection time. And thus Tuesday’s collection service may run into Wednesday. However, barring a further deterioration in the weather, we should be caught up by Wednesday afternoon.
