Unless otherwise posted, the speed limit on residential streets is 30 mph.  Some residents have contacted me to request reducing the speed limit on their street.  Our traffic staff explained that they will consider changing the speed limit on streets that have unusual geometrics or roadway constraints that warrant a speed reduction.  However, they cannot set a street’s speed limit based on a neighborhood petition.  If you think your street would qualify due to “unusual geometrics” or other “roadway constraints,” the city can do an engineering study to determine if your street qualifies.

If you’re having problems with cars speeding down your street, let me know and we can put up a “Watch Your Speed” sign and/or get an officer to monitor the area for speeders.
