EAST DALLAS VELOWAY

The
East Dallas Veloway (also called the Santa Fe Trail in some parts) is a new
part of the Dallas trail system that will connect Randall Park to White Rock
Lake, and then south to Fair Park.
FUNDING
Cost of constructing the trail will be paid for
using a combination of state and local funds. Phase I is funded by
City of Dallas-CMAQ funds and Phase II by Texas Department of Transportation
STEP funds. This leg of the trail all the way to Fair Park is paid
for.
SCHEDULE
Below is a tentative schedule for the
East Dallas Veloway. Construction is scheduled to begin in December
2006, and to be completed a year later, December 2007. Note that this schedule can change depending on
various design issues. There is an issue regarding a DART light rail line
crossing near Commerce Street that will need to be resolved (at grade versus
grade-separated crossing).
